J esus’ Life

John 1:29  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Hebrews 10:4-7, 11, 12 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will O God. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

The offering was made according to possession, (prosperity). Tame, domesticated animals were LED to the altar. They were not dragged!

The slaying of an innocent animal predates Leviticus by 2,500 years!

The offering came from the herd, the flock, or the fowl.

Jesus' earthly parents offered a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

The Cost to David

2 Samuel 24:24, 25 And the king said to Arauca, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

1 Chronicles 21:24-26 and King David said to Ronan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the neither Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost. So David gave to Ronan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

Freewill Offering

Exodus 25:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that grivet it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposed in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loved a cheerful giver.

Jesus, the Perfect Offering

1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1 Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

Hebrews 4:15 For us have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities: but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

God’s Provision for His Priests

1 Corinthians 9:13, 14  Do ye not know that they which minister about the holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

Luke 10:7  And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
