T he Earnest Prayer of a Righteous Man

James 5:16b-18   [Amplified Version]The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].   Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have [with feelings, affections, and a constitution like ours];  and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months.  [1 Kings 17:1]   And [then]  he prayed again and the heavens supplied rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].   [1 Kings 18:42-45.]

Our righteousness is of faith.    The Christian believer must have  his righteousness rooted and grounded in the merits of the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ.   Only then can he approach the throne of grace with the required boldness.

Tremendous power is made available through this type of prayer, it is dynamic
in its working.

The prayer must be continual.

Matthew 7:7, 8    [Amplified Version]          Keep on asking and it will be given you;  keep on seeking and you will find;  keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.   For everyone who keeps on asking receives;  and he who keeps on seeking finds;  and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.
